This is a droplet* (see def. below) which you drag mounted volumes to———from CD ROMS, floppies, flopticals, remote hard drives, Netware™ volumes, AppleShare™ servers———and it instantly makes a folder on your hard drive with all the remote aliases of it. Why would anyone care? Well, it is like having a librarian on your Mac———now you can catalog those floppies. Whenever you need a file, just doubleclick on one of these aliases and System 7™ automatically prompts you to insert the volume in which it's on.
Personally, I found that I had gotten out of the habit of using floppies because I had a hard time remembering which floppy held what. Now, however, with Ghost™ I got back in the habit. This allowed me to take about 10MB off my hard drive, which is a Mac god-send by anyone's book.
*Droplet (drop´lit: origin, circa 20th century Macese). An application that files can be dragged on top of for certain tasks to be performed. (This is very similar to applet, which is an application that does one quick task and then quits immediately.)
